ABOUT US

The Windy Hill Whales began in 2014 as part of the Beach Collegiate Baseball League. The Beach Collegiate Baseball League is a competitive summer league that runs from the end of May through the end of June in Myrtle Beach, SC. This league has produced professional players as well as helping many JUCO players sign scholarships to various four-year schools. The league provides a great opportunity for graduating high school seniors up through graduating college seniors to showcase their skills against players from around the country. The Whales have been a very competitive team every year in the league. There have been many great players to come through and play for the Whales. A lot of those players are former Junior College players who have earned scholarships to play at the four-year level. Since 2014, the Whales have expanded from having a manager/coach to having a General Manager and a Coach. The Whales have shown a strong focus on the players to enhance their playing skills and help them reach their dreams. The Whales provide a great opportunity for college baseball players to continue playing throughout the summer and showcase their skills in front of scouts, and other college coaches.

Phil McClure first began coaching the Whales in 2014 while he was coaching at a small college in Arkansas. He spent two years coaching in Arkansas before taking a job coaching a junior college in Tennessee where he was the head coach during the 2017 season helping to lead the Saluqis to a solid TCCAA playoff run along with having a player drafted in the 25th round of the 2017 MLB draft. During his first season as manager/coach, the Whales brought in a solid team that sent two players to other summer leagues after the BCBL and also had a player play professional. The following years have been more of the same with the Whales as we continue to push college baseball players to reach their full potential and fulfill their baseball dreams. Phil is now the acting General Manager of the Whales and is committed to continuing the Whales success every summer. We are really excited to push into a new era for the Whales as we are expanding our community focus and becoming more of a professional summer baseball league team. The future of the program is only going to continue to improve for the players, their families, and the community.
